At Tim Dansie Psychology, we provide counselling support for children, adolescents, and adults, tailored to each individual’s needs and goals. The counselling process typically begins with an initial appointment, which may involve parents or caregivers only (particularly for younger children), allowing us to gather background information, understand concerns, and plan appropriate support. If parents or caregivers would prefer to attend sessions on their own, this can also be arranged. Ongoing sessions focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship and using evidence-based strategies to support emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and daily functioning. Informed consent is obtained prior to commencing services, and we ensure clients and families understand the process, goals, and confidentiality of counselling.
Where appropriate, we can also collaborate with schools to support consistency across home and educational settings, including communication with teachers and the development of practical strategies to assist the student. Sessions may involve individual work, parent support, or a combination of both, depending on what will be most effective for the client.
We provide support across a wide range of areas, including anxiety, low mood and depression, emotional regulation, behavioural challenges, anger management, drug and alcohol concerns, school refusal, social difficulties, trauma, family challenges, and adjustment to life changes.
